The Pen Wins Over The Awards

A Short Story For Writers
From Shiju H. Pallithazheth

A boy asked a recently honoured writer in the literary world,

“Madam, how can I get an award for literature like you got?”

The lady smiled and placed her hand on the little boy and said,

Ask your pen if it can write good enough to impress a larger literary board so that they honour and award its efforts. And if the pen says ‘yes,; then you must befriend it and take on the challenges in the literary world together. Try doing that and you will get the answer on how to win an authentic literary honour.’

The boy pulled out a pen from his bag and asked it,

‘Can we join hands and handle the challenges together?’

The pen said,
“Give me ideas and I will be there with you always.”

Today, that writer is world-famous and his friend ‘the pen’ still shines with the herculean topics it’s swept, covered, and accumulated. The boy thereafter never asked anyone how to win awards. He kept writing and amusing all his readers.

All the world’s awarding committees rushed to me and asked for his whereabouts. My answer was common. I told them,

“He is in his creative world and busy writing.”
